Job Summary and Responsibilities

Summary: The Municipal and Local Affairs Specialist will support the Fiber to the Home project. This position will play a crucial role in facilitating smooth operations of construction and engineering by liaising with municipalities, local agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulations and efficient project execution.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

 

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for municipalities, local agencies, and other relevant stakeholders regarding the Fiber to the Home project.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders to ensure alignment with project goals and objectives.
  • Coordinate permitting processes and regulatory approvals required for construction activities, ensuring compliance with local regulations and ordinances.
  • Collaborate with engineering and construction teams to address any municipal or local agency concerns and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to stakeholders on milestones, timelines, and any potential obstacles.
  • Work closely with legal counsel to review and negotiate agreements, permits, and other legal documents related to the project.
  • Stay informed about changes in local regulations, agency, or association requirements, and permitting requirements that may impact the project.
  • Assist in the development of community outreach programs and initiatives to promote awareness and support for the Fiber to the Home project.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Urban Planning, Engineering, or 8+ years’ experience in a related field.
  • Prior experience working with municipalities, local agencies, or government entities, preferably in a similar capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of local regulations, agency, or association requirements, and permitting processes related to construction projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working on fiber optic infrastructure projects or telecommunications initiatives.
  • Familiarity with GIS software and mapping tools.
  • Understanding of broadband deployment initiatives and industry best practices.
