Job Summary and Responsibilities

We are looking for Senior Field Engineer to join our LTE/5G engineering team. The person will be the key contributor as a subject matter expert in radio frequency (RF) and/or wireless transmission design. Assist in the deployment, optimization and troubleshooting of these networks to resolve a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways. Use the expertise to work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Interact across multifunctional groups and with customers driving the ownership of those relationships.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

 

  • Support On-Site Field Work, technical work, installations, testing, and troubleshooting of backhaul, transmission methodology.
  • Install, Integrate and commission Samsung equipment to Samsung standards.
  • Install, Commission and integrate Cisco CSR/IXR routers to manufacturers and Samsung specifications.
  • Support troubleshooting of all T-1, ATM backbone, microwave backhaul transmission methodology
  • Execute RMA process including field trouble-shooting, replacement and administrative completion. Process may require interfacing with customer, subcontractors and multiple groups within organization.
  • Report to Regional Field Ops Manager with daily status of activities.
  • Scheduling and assignment of daily tasks and site work to Field Technicians.
  • Customer Liaison for Network Operations including Samsung integration into customer processes and design procedures as well as handoff between organizations.
  • Conduct or assist in all field engineering activities in support of field trials (FIT/FOA/FFA).
  • Design and execute RF field test plans for technology features and performance.
  • Accountable for driving field integration testing efforts (FFA/FIT/FFA) of all 4G/5G key features with customers, including test plan development, reviewing test plan with internal teams, driving cross-functional teams to execution, review of test results, issue identification, analysis and quality proofing.
  • Ability to manage field engineering walk/drive testing, post-processing, layer-3 signaling analysis, troubleshooting, parameter changes of LTE and 5G NSA and SA systems.
  • Perform ad-hoc field testing as needed.
  • Interface with customer and other teams via conference calls and/or in-person field activities.
  • Perform limited project management to ensure all RF Engineering deliverables are met.
  • Create or assist with the creation of CIQ.
  • Develop and review Engineering MOPs.
  • Able to create/follow/update tickets via Ticketing tools for work assignments
  • Interface with software/hardware design groups and provide assistance for their activities of debugging and resolution.
  • Prepare reports and presentations, compile and analyze data and engineering information for the effective communication of processes, results, plans, recommendations, and conclusion.
  • Represent Market or Region Field Ops Team in periodic status meetings relative to overall project including daily, weekly and monthly progress by site, market or region.
  • Support subcontractors in growth of knowledge base for project fulfillment through field training efforts with the objective of expanding engineering expertise.
  • Review internal documentation for accuracy and provide updates/corrections as appropriate.
  • Provide direction to field engineers (internal and external) to meet overall project objectives. Goal is to ensure all field engineers are on track to meet project milestones and to redirect as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering with more than 10 years of directly related experience required, or 15 years of directly related experience with lesser degree.
  • Field or Network Engineering Experience in Wireless Network Design & Implementation including LTE- 4G/5G, IP, Router/Switching, Core Network Element Installation & Commissioning, Base Station Installation & Commissioning, RF Design and Performance.
  • Must have strong knowledge and experience with 4G and 5GDeployment, Test, Optimization and Troubleshooting for mmWave and Sub-6 GHz systems as well as their associated parameters.
  • Experience with UE data collection and post-processing tools, preferably Accuver XCAL and XCAP.
  • Experience in testing and trialing various 4G/5G features.
  • Experience with CBRS, Massive-MIMO, and TDD systems is strongly desired.
  • A solid understanding of RF fundamentals and data network protocols.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Base Station Vendor equipment (Samsung, Alcatel Lucent, Ericsson).
  • Must be able to support presentation of technical information in various business settings to audiences of varying backgrounds.
  • Proficient in MS Office package.
  • Experience with GIS and mapping tools is a plus.
  • Samsung LTE/5G experience is a plus.
  • CBRS CPI Certification is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English to communicate key technical concepts and the ability to package complex ideas into logical, easy-to-follow progressions.
  • Successful track record defining direction and providing specific instruction for engineering projects/programs leveraging personal knowledge and organizational skills to increase team efficiency, facilitate personal development and mentor colleagues.
  • Must have a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, integrity and work extremely well independently and in a team environment.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have a valid US driver’s license.
  • Must be able to travel on short notice during the project more than 75% of the time.
